Vitamin B-12 plays an important role in red blood cell formation, cell metabolism, nerve function & production of DNA that carries information about our genes. Food sources of vitamin B-12 include poultry, meat, fish and dairy products. People who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet might be prone to deficiency because plant foods do not contain vitamin B-12.  What is FSH; FOLLICLE STIMULATING HORMONE ?

FSH (Follicle stimulating hormone) & LH (Luteinizing hormone) are female hormones which regulate your menstrual cycles. FSH rises in the first part of the cycle while LH rises after mid-cycle when ovulation takes place. These hormones are used to evaluate irregular periods, suspected failure of functioning of the sex organs, predict if you are ovulating and investigate infertility. Since their release is regulated by the pituitary gland in the brain, they also help to detect pituitary gland disorders.

What is TSH (THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE), ULTRASENSITIVE ?

This test measures the level of Ultrasensitive Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) in the blood. TSH is produced by pituitary gland in the brain & stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones. High level of TSH indicates an underactive thyroid whereas low level is seen in overactive thyroid. If you are a known case of underactive thyroid, this test is done at regular intervals to adjust your dose of medicine.)

This test measures several components and features of your blood like Red blood cells which carry oxygen; White blood cells which fight infection; Hemoglobin the oxygen carrying protein in red blood cells; Hematocrit proportion of red blood cells to the fluid component or plasma in your blood; Platelets which help with blood clotting. Abnormal increases or decreases in cell counts as revealed in a Complete blood count may indicate that you have an underlying medical condition that calls for further evaluation. This test also helps to monitor a known medical condition.
